The carrier is folded flat when packaged and zips up all the way around to assemble it into a carrier. It takes just seconds to set it up or collapse to store away. It is sturdy all the way around and allows enough room for one adult cat in it to stand, turn, and even stretch out a bit to sleep. (The requirements for airline approved carriers.)
The top and the front can unzip to allow a pet to enter and exit the carrier. These top and front flaps once unzipped, can also be rolled up and held open by the velcro strips sewn in to the lining of the product. All four sides of the carrier as well as the top, have mesh netting as pictured. Some cats may claw or bite at the mesh and try to rip holes to attempt to escape if frightened or fearful. My two protested nearly every second of a four hour drive to get to their new home after being newly adopted. I did not have the experience of either of my cats being able to damage the carrier.
Inside of the assembled product is a latch that would allow an animal wearing a harness to be tethered to the carrier should the carrier be left open. The padding on the floor of the carrier is removable, machine washable and held in place with velcro. The back of the cat carrier has an elastic open pocket and also one pocket that has a snap closure to keep toys, treats or even documents such as vet records in it. There is one strap loop in the back. Placing a seatbelt strap through it keeps the carrier secured to the car seat. The carrier has strap handles which can be affixed together by velcro for extra security. It will hold a medium sized animal up to 20 lbs. safely.
I keep these carriers set up and accessible to my pets at all times. They enter it randomly when they want a change of pace for their napping zone and also retreat into it when the vacuum cleaner is running. When using the carrier for visits to the vet for checkups I have always felt secure about the carrier holding up and containing my pet while in transit outside of the car to the inside of the vet’s office.
I paid about $35.00 for each carrier. The price was a much welcome and much needed affordable bargain compared to carriers with similar security features which, at the time of my initial search were running near $60.00 at the best price. The dimensions for this carrier are 20 x 13 x 12 inches and is only available in the color aqua for this size. I am very happy with the product and recommend this one if you have simple needs, a modest budget and a cat who will not panic from being able to have such an open view from all of the mesh.
